Holiday Cabras

Fishing is the main resource in Cabras. On the pond grey mullets are reared. From their roes, which are cured, is obtained bottarga, here called also “oro giallo” (yellow gold). Every year, between July and August there is the Festival of bottarga, the perfect opportunity for tasting spaghettis or fregola (Sardinian pasta similar to couscous) with bottarga. There are lot of things to see in Cabras and around. On the village there is the Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta, 17th century Baroque church; the archeological museum “Giovanni Marongiu”, with finds from the territory, such legendary Giganti di Mont’e Prama (Mont’e Prama Giants). In the vicinity you can visit the Punic town of Tharros, one of the most important archaeological sites of the whole region, and San Salvatore village, location of some Spaghetti western movies, chosen for the Wild West atmosphere but actually it houses people during the Festival of San Salvatore, one of the oldest festivals of the island.
