Holiday Posada 2019

Posada is perched on top of a limestone cliff. The village is dominated by the ruins of the castle of Fava, built in the 12th century by the so called “Judges of Gallura”. Recently renovated as well as the gray stone houses under it, it gives the village a typical medieval charm. The narrow streets, arches and small squares make Posada a fascinating destination for your holidays in Sardinia. The Posada valley has plenty of surprises for the nature lovers with thriving populations of freshwater turtle, the purple gallinule, and many other species. These live in a large system of natural canals that form the estuary of the Posada River, a paradise for the wildlife. The nearby Tepilora Park was also  recognized as a "Biosphere Reserve" by UNESCO in 2017. So nature lovers, bring a good camera with you and be back home with national geographic pictures!!

In addition to the beaches of San Giovanni, Su Tiriarzu and Orvile that from 2008 to 2011 have been awarded the prestigious recognition of the 5 Vele Legambiente, and again in 2017, for the quality of its natural environment and tourist services.

The village is not short of festivals: among the most important is the Madonna del Soccorso, which falls on the first Sunday after Easter. Posada also celebrates Saint Antonio Abate on January 17th. It is traditional that one large pile of typical Sardinian plant called "mudregu", is burnt in the main square. During the procession the ritual requires 3 laps around the bonfire. Thereafter, it is a tradition to share the local typical sweets called "sos cogoneddos" and "s'aranzada", strictly handmade by the local ladies. The celebrations continue with refreshments and street food and wine. A great reason to visit Posada even in winter!

The coastline of Posada is a great destination for families due to its calm and shallow sea. Many services are available on the beach such as beach umbrellas, beach chairs, bars, etc. Many Italians also love to spend their holiday here for the quality of the food, wine and unspoiled nature. You should really consider Posada and surrounding areas for your 2019 family holiday!
